This Course will provide students with the practical knowledge of designing, assembling, and maintaining a home recording studio. During this course student will learn the acoustics principles of sound isolation, diffusers, bass traps, and placements to maximize the sound quality of a home recording studio. Students will also learn the essential equipment, connections, and maintenance required for a home studio including computers, DAW’s, microphones, cabling, interfaces, monitors, headphones, and musical instruments.

This Course will provide students with the practical knowledge of designing, assembling, and maintaining a home recording studio. During this course student will learn the acoustics principles of sound isolation, diffusers, bass traps, and placements to maximize the sound quality of a home recording studio. Students will also learn the essential equipment, connections, and maintenance required for a home studio including computers, DAW’s, microphones, cabling, interfaces, monitors, headphones, and musical instruments. 

This module explores the various types of home studios, from bedroom setups to semi-pro spaces, and their unique purposes, such as editing, mixing, and recording. It also covers studio design, layout planning, and essential considerations for creating an efficient and inspiring workspace. 

This module delves into home studio acoustics and design, focusing on absorption, isolation, and sound behavior like diffraction and reverberation. It also examines how we perceive direction and space, along with techniques for analyzing and optimizing acoustic performance. 

This module focuses on soundproofing techniques for home studios, including the use of diffusers, bass traps, and absorption materials to manage reflections and achieve frequency balance. It also covers considerations for windows, doors, and partitions to design effective soundproofing tailored to your space. 

This module covers the essential role of computers in home studios, detailing specifications, RAM, storage needs, and maintenance. It also introduces popular digital audio workstations like Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton, and Reason, along with the use of plug-ins to enhance production. 

This module highlights the essential recording gear for home studios, including audio interfaces, microphones, and cables, with a focus on input/output requirements, bit depth, and sample rate. It explores the differences between condenser, dynamic, and USB microphones to help you choose the right tools for your setup.
