Overview

This course explores the fundamental concepts in music theory, including scales, intervals, and triads. Students will learn to construct and analyze chromatic, whole tone, and pentatonic scales, understand intervals and their inversions, and master triads and their variations to enhance musical composition and performance.

In this lesson, we will examine the fundamental concepts of the chromatic and whole tone scales. You will be introduced to the melodic chromatic, the harmonic chromatic and their construction. We will also explore the construction of the whole tone scale. 

In this lesson, we will examine the fundamental concepts of pentatonic scales. You will be introduced to the major and minor pentatonic scales, their construction and their relation to major and minor scales. We will also explore the blues scale. 

In this lesson, we will examine the fundamental concepts of intervals. You will be introduced to harmonic and melodic intervals, the intervals naming system, identifying intervals and constructing intervals. 

In this lesson, we will continue our examination of the fundamental concepts of intervals. You will be introduced to inverted intervals, consonant & dissonant intervals, identifying intervals and constructing intervals. 

In this lesson, we will examine the fundamental concepts of triads. You will be introduced to major, minor, augmented & diminished triads, identifying triads, and triads in relation to the major scale. 

In this lesson, we will further examine the fundamental concepts of triads. You will be introduced to the construction methods for triads, triad inversions, and identifying inversions.
